Conflict of Interest in Leap

To access the App:

  1. Click the LEAP Menu > Cards > Conflict Check.

    This will load the last 7 days of Conflict Checks undertaken by your firm. 

    You can search by a wider range through the date selector at the top of the screen, and perform an Advanced Search to find searches by Search Term, Staff or Status. The Conflict Check list provides summary information of each check that has been performed. You can open previous Conflict Checks to view and edit them, and this information can also be printed if required.

    From the summary you can see:

    • The date and time of the Conflict Check;

    • What was searched for;

    • Summary information about potential conflicts;

    • The Matter Number associated with the check;

    • The status of the check.

Create a Conflict Check Record

  1. Click New Check, to create a new Conflict Check.

  2. Enter the term you wish to search for, terms can include, Names, Addresses, Telephone Numbers, Date of Birth, and Email Address. 

  3. Click the 'magnifying glass' to perform the check.  

  4. You can check the Exact Match box to search for the exact phrase entered but leaving it unticked will search more widely.

Statuses

New: This is the default status when a conflict check is initiated for the first time.

In Progress: Once the check has been started, it moves to In Progress to indicate that it is currently being reviewed.

No Conflict: This status is used when the individual has been thoroughly checked and confirmed to have no conflict. This includes verifying they are not on the opposing side, do not have an existing client card, are not listed in the LEAP database, are not associated with the matter, and that correspondence has been checked for any mentions of the individual.

Risk of Conflict: The conflict check tool has identified potential risks. Further investigation is required before proceeding.

Conflict: A clear conflict of interest has been identified. The firm is unable to act on behalf of the individual.
